BOOM runs day to day from the operating office on Jerome Avenue in the west Bronx, close to the middle schools the programme serves. The organisation’s headquarters is in Mount Vernon, just north of the city line.

Four ways in
One hour a week, one year minimum. You will be interviewed, background-checked, trained by the Mentoring Partnership of New York and supported by a Community Mentor Coordinator every month of your match. Adult male mentors are especially needed.
Help run talent shows, service days, tutoring sessions and field trips — or bring a professional skill to the office. Volunteers are screened to the same standards as staff.
Donations offset the cost of activities, materials and transport, and cover mentor recruitment and general administration. Snacks for after-school sessions and transport for field trips are recurring, named needs in ALANY’s own reporting.
Schools, businesses, congregations and agencies partner with ALANY to refer students, supply mentors, host trainings or donate space and tickets. Twenty organizations already do.
